Sauvignon Blanc is not a success story in Hungarian winemaking. Not many producers seem to get it right, it’s not easy to find good examples. What the Pannonhalmi Apátsági Pincészet makes from the grape is a clear standout, year in, year out. It’s fantastic value too.
A flawless and refined wine – clean as a whistle, varietally correct and perfectly balanced. Stylistically it resembles South African Sauvignon, driven by citrus fruit, no greenness or harshness here. A nice acid backbone, mouthfilling intensity, perfectly measured phenolic grip on the finish. So crisp, so refreshing. A winner.
