This must be one of the finest budget friendly Hungarian Kékfrankos (a.k.a. Blaufrankisch) wines ever made. The entry-level red for Bodri and as light as one expects for a 4-5 Euro bottle, but it’s as good as it gets in the category. So vivid and refreshing. Flowers (especially violets) and blueberries mark the nose, with some black pepper notes adding a Syrah-like character. Light on its feet, but full of flavor. Balanced, clean as a whistle, such a joyful wine.
Rating: a superb midweek qusaffer, 85 points.
Price: 4-5 Euros, kind of widely available locally.
Value: best buy.
Drinking window: best in the next few months, in it’s primary state. Might keep for a few years, but better to drink now.
