The winner of the Kékfrankos blind tasting mentioned here.
The second vintage of the wine from Bakonyi’s new plantings, made from Austrian and German clones. The warmth of the sunny Villány region comes through, it’s a riper, darker face of Kékfrankos, yet without any excess alcohol (13,5%) and it retains the variety’s leaner built and crisp acidity. Some oak spice. More structured and tannic than it’s peers, built to last, we opened it a bit too early. Give it at least 6 months.
