This might not be a surprising wine for one who tastes lots of Portuguese reds – I don’t and this turned out to be something unexpected. If you are like me and want to explore a new world of flavours, go and find it.
Not a flawless one (high VA for a start) and also very rustic, but this untamed beast might seduce you. Such richness and intensity, it has top shelf concentration and power, and a distinctive dried chanterelle mushroom nose I never experienced before. Loaded with ripe and dried black fruit aromas, too. A tad sweet on the palate, but balanced with an amazing wall of chewy, yet not drying tannins. This will shock many, but if look for something new and wild with a big impact, give it a chance.
