Just by looking at the label you can tell this is a low added SO2 wine (yes, I’m trying to avoid the term natural). Wassmann was started as a biodynamic winery (the first in Villány if I’m not mistaken) and I loved some of their early wines.
This one is from a new era, though: nothing added during winemaking. A friend shared the bottle a few days ago. Leaving such a wine to breath is risky business, but right after opening it was better than I expected.
Funky, but not overtly so. Animalistic notes, leather and some ink on the nose. On the softer side, quite smooth on the palate, although the firm tannins are a bit drying on the finish. There is concentration and substance here, and it’s not so dirty or extreme that only insiders could appreciate it. 85 points. 4999 HUF at Mitiszol, €24,50 in Germany (Wirwinzer, Weinonaut), available in USA, too (Alphabet City).
