When it comes to value red wines, Italy is one of the best choices if you ask me.
An entry level wine which oozes Tuscany – yes, please. A bit darker and broader compared to chianti but feels authentic with its balsamic vinegar and leather edged dark fruits and savoury character. Hardly medium-bodied but grippy and tannic, there’s structure here. Soft acidity and a tad of sweetness round its firmness. Hearty and well made, pretty good for the price. 85 points. Bought at around 3-4 Euros, great value. Stockist: Lidl. Own purchase.
