Found this one in Auchan at a very good price.
Not a boring New World red but somewhat awkward. You get the South Africa burnt rubber thing, but it’s a quite savoury wine. Wild and raw, even. Quite animalistic at opening, most if goes away quickly. Smells ripe but bitter, with camphor and mint notes. Full-bodied, high acidity and chewy tannin make it quite rustic, almost Italian-like, which I like, but on the other hand it’s a bit too edgy and unforgiving. Give it a year, time might soften it.
Rating: OK wine, a bit challenging ATM, 83 points.
Price: was 7€, on sale, but it’s around 10€.
